Two more days of leftovers and lounging, and we’re dressing down for the occasion à la these three scantily clad ladies, depicted by the twentieth century Italian artist and politician, Renato Guttuso. A celebrated modern painter, Guttuso’s favoured subjects were the landscapes and people of southern Italy. He employed “a suitably rich and vibrant palette that reflected the intense colours of his native Sicily”, in the words of the Estorick Collection, and perfectly encapsulated the vitality of its inhabitants.
