Working from memory, my practice is an investigation of thinking, rather than observation. It is a production of the unconscious. My drawings often start with a fictional space – a room, a stage, a box or even a plinth. There, (as if under a microscope) allusions to the body are displayed and become curiosities. Bodily parts are reimagined as a collection and agglomeration of desires, anxieties and fantasies. This hysterical fusion both conflates seriousness and humour, cynicism and brutality infused with a mixture of vanity and self-obsession.
