‘My studio practice has grown for close to twenty years out of a desire to make paintings without being restrained by the flat surface, to which paint is traditionally applied. That flat surface, for me, limits too much what a painting can be. So I have found another way. By working the paint by sculptural techniques I have developed my own organically extendable painting practice. No limits and no edge of the picture plane to bring the work to a stop.’
