Dutch photographer Rineke Dijkstra is best known for her intimate portraiture, which poignantly encapsulates the vulnerability of her sitters. She frequently centres on the passing of time and the physical changes that accompany it, returning to the same subjects over a number of years to capture how they’ve altered. A new online show of Dijkstra’s work arriving at Marian Goodman Gallery tomorrow includes an array of family portraits in this vein, including her moving shots of a pair of Israeli twins, Chen and Efrat, taken over six years to show their transformation from childhood, through (very relatable) adolescence, to adulthood.
