We all know that trees are good for the environment, but how much do most of us really know about why? A summer show at Fondation Cartier brings together botanists, philosophers and artists to explore the power of trees—both their beauty, and their “biological wealth”. This image is a particularly playful one by Sebastián Mejía, playing with the power of manmade structures and nature, with nature ultimately winning out and bursting forth from the roof. “Underestimated by biology for a long time, trees—like the entirety of the plant kingdom—have been the subject of scientific discoveries in recent years that have allowed us to see the oldest members of our community of living beings in a new light,” says the foundation.
