Kicking off the week with this beautiful sculpture by Paris-born, Philadelphia-based multidisciplinary artist Shona McAndrew. The piece is one of Elephant’s current objects of desire, as selected by Charlotte Jansen for our brand new issue. “McAndrew pokes the eyes out of the historical gaze and makes it utterly her own,” Jansen writes of the artist’s “glorious papier-mâché and painted goddesses”. These form a key facet of McAndrew’s oeuvre—an ongoing exploration of “the fleeting yet intimate moments of vulnerability in the daily lives of women”, in the words of CHART gallery, where you can currently catch a glimpse of her latest paintings.
