Sophia Al Maria has been working in collaboration with the Whitechapel Gallery to create a new film project that draws on feminism and radical queer politics, exploring ancient and modern creation myths. Artist, writer and performer Victoria Sin performs in one film, while in another a member of the Wayuu tribe from northern Columbia tells the story of a fanged vagina—the “vagina dentata”. Both films will be viewable at Whitechapel Gallery from 15 January to 28 April.
