This spellbinding set-up is the handiwork of Thai photographer and artist Tanapol Kaewpring. It is one in a series of images depicting a square, glass box situated in various rural and urban landscapes. Each time, the box contains a different natural element—fire, smoke, water, light and so on. Kaewpring’s aim, he said, was to highlight the societal constraints that so often hinder us from being present and at peace in the current moment. The box is a symbol of these systems, while “the elements combined with their settings represent aspects of psychological freedom”.
