A pratfall of clowns lie about the floors of Palais de Tokyo in Paris, bathed in rainbow light. They’re in the instituions current exhibition on childhood and the work sums up the many aspects of the show that are explored, from childhood wonder and fascination to fear and anxiety. These reclining sad clowns make us think of the change in perception of the world that we exeprience in adulthood too, when the shiny wonder of it all wears off somewhat.
