“Above all, art should be fun.” So said the late, great American sculptor Alexander Calder, born on this day in 1898. Here’s a photograph of his joyfully overflowing studio in Roxbury, Connecticut, where he spent his later years conjuring up a colourful collection of vast public sculptures and miniature maquettes.
