This dreamy, hand-painted setting is the interior of the St Barbara Cave Church in Cappadocia in Turkey, found via expert Instagram (and object) curator @mudimakes. Located in The Göreme Open Air Museum, the church’s stone facade is deceptively simple, but inside a plethora of decorative ochre-hued patterns and animal paintings bring the architectural details to life. This particular building dates back to 1100AD, and is part of a whole cluster of former monastic buildings carved into the area’s rocky valley, now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
