Vera Neumann was one of the most successful design entreprensers of the twenty-first century, debuting her own label in 1942. She designed a hugely popular line of scarves and textile patterns, based on her own drawings, paintings and collages. This image is typically upbeat—and will be shown alongside an exploration of her vibrant life and work at the Museum of Art and Design in New York. “This exhibition will be the first to comprehensively examine her career,” says the museum, “and highlights the keys to her success: her joyful and inventive aesthetic, democratic design ethos, fusion of craft and mass production and clever marketing.”
