William Pye, Clearwater Cube, 2000

Ever since his childhood, the British sculptor William Pye has been fascinated by water. The 82-year-old began his career making abstract sculptures that often evoked the properties of the natural element, using materials such as stainless steel and stone. Before long, however, he began integrating water itself into his creations, manipulating its form in breathtaking feats of engineering. This mesmerising work, titled Clearwater Cube, perfectly showcases Pye’s skill for choreographing water, using clear acrylic polymer to achieve the fountain’s angular flow.
