After a full year working in Berlin as Gropius Bau’s artist in residence, Wu Tsang takes over the cutting-edge art space with the thought-provokingly titled There Is No Nonviolent Way to Look at Somebody. Her film and moving image works cross into cinema, documentary and choreography, and she is a keen collaborator, working frequently with Boychild and other creatives to form works that are full of soul, and which often explore marginalized narratives and the act of performance. “In her films, Wu Tsang questions how bodies that are seen as posing a threat to normative social structures move within the violence of everyday environments so as to ensure their survival,” says Gropius Bau.
