Zdenek Rihák, Hotel Panorama, 1967-1970

What better way to enjoy a skiing holiday than by staying in a magnificent mountain-emulating hotel? This Brutalist beauty was built by Czech architect Zdenek Rihák between 1967–1970 and formed part of Štrbské Pleso, a village created to coincide with the World Ski Championships, hosted by Slovakia in 1970. Situated 1335 metres above sea level, the towering structure offers extraordinary views of High and Low Tatras and the valley that divides them, resulting in its name: the Hotel Panorama.
