A whimsical start to the weekend by Italian artist Agnese Guido, whose “anthropomorphic characters bring inanimate objects to life through the addition of eyes, legs or a red-lipsticked mouth”, in the words of Louise Benson in a 2020 feature on the artist. In this case, the subject in question is a mullet-sporting sedan with things to do and people to see, it would seem, in spite of its isolated backdrop. “I’ve always loved painting, comics and especially outsider artists,” Guido tells Benson of her inspirations. “I have a fairly classical background, but I often find the graphic and narrative aspect of comics, or the incredibly imaginative aspect of outsider art, much more direct and raw.” See the full feature here.
