Who’s ready for some weekend basking? This wonderful picture was taken by photographer Alessandra Sanguinetti, who has spent many years documenting the coming of age of Guillermina and Belinda, two cousins living in rural Argentina. She published her first photo book on the subject in 2010, returning to it for a sequel published in 2020. This image featured in the latter, which serves as a compelling documentation of the duo’s “psychological, emotional and physical transformations” as they drift from girlhood to womanhood—in the words of Alex Merola for Elephant— resulting in “an affecting tale of female destiny”.
