Alice Mann has scooped the prestigious Grand Prix prize for photographer at the International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Fashion accessories in Hyères, France. The South African-born, London-based artist won for her four pictures of majorettes, nicknamed “drummies”, from some of the most disadvantaged communities in the Western Cape province. The series also bagged her the 2018 Taylor Wessing Prize.
