Annique Delphine, Objectify Me, 2017

A disembodied start to Tuesday, courtesy of the German artist Annique Delphine and her 2017 film Objectify Me. The work features in writer Thea Hawlin’s archive story for Elephant, examining the various contemporary artists combining food and breasts in their art. “For Delphine, the collusion of the female body and edible objects provided a new language,” Hawlin explains, a point affirmed by the artist herself. “Objectify Me was the only way I knew how to express my pain and confusion about how women are regarded as things rather than people,” Delphine says. “How our nudity is used to normalise this and also to justify violence against us.” Click here to read on.
