This flexible figure is the handiwork of Mexico City-based artist Clotilde Jiménez, whose compelling collages draw on his own experiences as a queer, Black hispanic artist “in the hopes of highlighting the stories of those who have previously been marginalised and ignored”, writes Rebecca Fulleylove in an archive feature for Elephant. This particular image forms part of a 2020 series that grapples with Jiménez’s “personal, and once estranged, relationship with his father, a bodybuilder and boxer”, Fulleylove explains.
