Sunday immersion… This beautiful photograph features in Denisse Ariana Pérez’s inaugural photo book, Agua, a meditative study of human beings and our interactions with water. Its captivating imagery was taken in Uganda, Senegal, and eventually Denmark, where the Caribbean-born Pérez was living at the time of its completion, and spans waterfalls, salty lakes and quarry pools. “A distinct feature of Agua’s choreography is the extension of bodies into space,” writes Ravi Ghosh of the majestic poses adopted by many of Perez’s subjects. “Arms and legs are straightened into the water, penetrating its surface in dance-like movements. When subjects float, their heads tilt back in complete relaxation.” Read Ghosh’s feature here.
