Ellie MacGarry, Eggs in Bed, 2019

Happy Easter from the Elephant team! What could be better than pair of lovely fried eggs on a Sunday morning, eaten in rumpled sheets? This timely scene is painted by Ellie MacGarry, who was recently interviewed in our regular 5 Questions series. As she explained, “I am really interested in the economy of means when it comes to making artworks—thinking about what is essential and what can be left out. I find there is a directness in the simplicity of the works that this kind of editing process results in.” Whether you’re enjoying your eggs fried, scrambled, boiled or poached—or, of course, chocolate and wrapped in foil—make sure to do so in bed.
