Christian Louboutin, Maquereau shoe

On World Oceans Day you can expect to see all kinds of wonderful underwater images, but none quite so unusual as this creation by designer Christian Louboutin, whose creations include a vision of a stiletto worthy of Atlantis. He has just announced a major new exhibition at the Palais de la Porte Dorée, set to open in February 2020, which includes the Maquereau shoe—made of metallic leather and directly inspired by the iridescence of the fish in the Palais de la Porte Dorée’s tropical aquarium. This enormous retrospective will not only showcase his signature styles, but also never-before-seen designs and a range of collaborations with the likes of director David Lynch, artists Lisa Reihana and Imran Qureshi and choreographer Blanca Li.
