Koo Jeong A, Density, 2019

With Christmas around the corner, plenty of people will be taking to the ice rink. Somerset House offers one of the most impressive places in London to get your skates on, and now visitors can now enjoy an augmented reality experience thanks to studio resident artist Koo Jeong A. Building on the artist’s interest in site-specific works that blur the line between fact and fiction, she has collaborated with Acute Art to develop an app-based installation that allows visitors to interact with a gigantic hyper realistic ice cube, which appears to be suspended in mid air. The piece, named Density, is based on an intricate three-dimensional drawings and manages to refract and reflect its surroundings in a fully responsive manner. Elsa eat your heart out!
