Maurice Hogenboom, Quasar Khanh and Family on Inflatable Furniture Designed by Khanh, 1970

An inflatable pavilion filled with inflatable furniture? You’d better believe it. This insouciantly cool clique is the Khanh family, consisting of Vietnamese designer and engineer Quasar Khanh (inventor of said designs), his wife, the fêted French fashion designer, Emmanuelle, and their kids. Quasar launched his radical, air-filled furniture line, Aerospace, in 1967, capturing countless imaginations in the process. This incredible image was taken by Maurice Hogenboom for Vogue in 1970, demonstrating just how stylish the blow-up sofa was once deemed.
