Some Monday movement inspiration courtesy of Ghanaian photographer James Barnor and his cousin, J Peter Dodoo, pictured here mid yoga pose. “When Barnor was at school, his younger cousin gave him an introductory photography manual, laden with diagrams and formulas for treating negatives, printing and developing film,” explains Ravi Ghosh in an archive feature exploring the tale behind the image. “By 1955, when this photograph was taken, Dodoo was studying yoga under Mr Strong, a mystic who established the first ashram in [Accra], while Barnor was capturing a nation on the cusp of independence from his Ever Young studio in Jamestown.” Click here to keep reading.
