Happy 82nd birthday to the American feminist artist Judy Chicago! To celebrate, why not take a read of Rebecca May Johnson’s This Artwork Saved My Life feature for Elephant, exploring how Chicago’s renowned 1970s installation, The Dinner Party, taught her to take cooking and eating seriously. “I was not used to seeing a dinner table that privileged the voices and appetites of women,” Johnson writes of the artwork, a triangular table set for thirty-nine famous women across history and mythology, with customised place settings relating to each. “[It] said: see how women have made the world.
