Kamilla Bischof, Medusa Montage, 2018

The current exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, titled Paint, Also Known As Blood, takes a dark tone from the outset. It is the first large-scale international exhibition devoted to women whose painting practice re-evaluates stereotypes concerning submission and domination. The show includes work by Polish and international artists alike, including Ambera Wellmann, Issy Wood, Penny Goring, Christina Quarles and many more. Together they question the blurred lines between power and objectification, introducing a new, female-focused and reflective gaze. The exhibition continues until 8 August.
