Katja Seib, Eve’s Curse, 2018

Katja Seib is currently enjoying her first solo exhibition in London, at Sadie Coles HQ. In this painting, female sexuality and desire are explored through the image of Eve and the serpent, and the work is full of hidden symbolism. Her works swing between figurative and more abstract, some taking their cue from life and others from the imagination. “Throughout her new paintings Seib evokes a world that is alternately luminous and nocturnal, mundane and surreal,” says the gallery. “Repeatedly, the viewer is inveigled into this world.”
