Let These Prints Take You Into the Multicoloured Mind of Inji Seo

Created exclusively for Elephant, this quartet of vibrant images from the South Korean artist investigates health and wellbeing

“Whenever I combine these clashing colours, I feel some pleasure,” Inji Seo told Elephant a few years ago. “It feels like lighting a part of my dark map.” She’s not joking: just looking at these four infectious prints will make anyone’s life feel a little brighter.

“Pain and fun come at the same time, as I have to draw new things that I haven’t tried before”

A regular collaborator with Elephant, the South Korean artist and illustrator is known for her bold, brash and fantastical images, packed full of details that hint at the much larger story beyond the frame. She created these four pieces to explore the idea of “self-care”. From curly straws to indulgent face masks, from a sweet-natured dog (the artist’s own pup Thor) to a seriously glamorous cyborg, Seo injects fun into the imagined wellness industry of the future.

“This project is a kind of challenge and a fun attempt for me because it asks me to use unusual objects and materials,” says Seo. “Pain and fun come at the same time, as I have to draw new things that I haven’t tried before. I just always try to be as fun as possible.”

Digitally printed on A2 paper, all four of these prints (Dog, Mask, Treatment and Robot) are available now exclusively from Elephant Kiosk.
