Paola Agosti, Roma, 8 Marzo 1977

The Italian photographer Paola Agosti was born in Turin, which the epicentre of the women’s liberation movement in Italy that began in 1969, the year she started her career as a photographer. She witnessed a period of unprecedented change in the political and social identity of Italy over the next two decades. Agosti is one of the key photographers of the Italian feminist movement of that time. Her work appears alongside four other significant female photographers of the period concerned with the representation of gender and women, showing at the Centro Pecci in Prato, Tuscany, until 8 March 2019.
