Todd Schorr, Pinky, 2018

Today’s comically vulgar image is from Todd Schorr—whose Everlasting Miracles opened recently at KP Projects in Los Angeles, ahead of an autumn show at MOCA Virginia. Pinky is a play on a painting at the Huntington Museum of Art, and is paired with another work, Blue Boy, which depicts a cliched “male” version of Pinky’s freakish creature, mobile phone in hand as an apparent apocalypse explodes all around. “My new works seek to entertain while at the same time provide the viewer with tasty morsels of contemplative thought,” the artist has said.
