Xiuching Tsay, Drunken Gravity, 2019

Tis the season to be jolly indeed—until you attend one too many Christmas parties, neck one too many proseccos, and become a scrooge. This painting by Xiuching Tsay, Drunken Gravity, will remind anyone who’s ever been face-down in a toilet bowl what room spin feels like. Tsay is a RCA MA Painting graduate, and one of the artists selected for the 2019 Bloomberg New Contemporaries exhibition. She is inspired by poetry and puppetry, and employs “the concept of hallucination in order to recondition my perceptions towards the intimated objects.” Is that art speak for taking psychedelics in the student bar? Christmas burnout is real: remember to pace yourself.
