There’s something endlessly enticing about once-opulent, now derelict spaces, their plush interiors giving way to dust and decay. And grand old American movie palaces are no exception, as evidenced in a new photo book, titled Movie Theatres, by French image-makers Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre. The publication features a variety of these former “cathedrals of cinema”, spanning the elegantly dilapidated (think: New Jersey’s Paramount Theatre, seen here) through the innovatively repurposed (the Meserole Theatre in Brooklyn, which is now a lofty ceilinged supermarket).
