Mary Shelley was born on this day in 1797; the young author had written and published Frankenstein by the time she was just twenty years old, giving shape to an iconic monster that has stood the test of time. Shelley’s gothic creation has inspired a host of artists, including Alex Da Corte‘s Slow Graffiti (2017), in which the artist dresses up as the monster himself—albeit a glam rock interpretation of the creature. The video work is currently on display at Sadie Coles as part of My Head is a Haunted House, a horror-focused group show curated by Charlie Fox; don’t miss it—the exhibition closes tomorrow.
