Erwin Wurm, Fat House, 2003

Weekends are for letting loose, as evidenced by this fabulously fleshy sculpture of a house by the ever-playful Austrian artist Erwin Wurm. A reflection upon middle-class consumer culture, Wurm crafted the full-size country dwelling in 2003, fitting it with soft, squishy walls made from polystyrene, mounted on a metal frame. Inside, a video work sees the characterful house perform a soliloquy, during which it ponders various existential themes.
