The Sixteen Trust knows that art can change lives. This new organization is committed to developing transferable skills that will help them in their careers through mentorship, workshops and online resources, stating “the arts have the unique capability to touch all aspects of daily life and provide young people with opportunities through practical, creative or even scientific pathways.” The charity’s launch exhibition, We Must Cultivate Our Garden, features work by Turner Prize winners and nominees including Tracey Emin, Jane and Louise Wilson, Damien Hirst and Nathan Coley, with proceeds from sales going towards funding the trust’s various initiatives. The exhibition takes place at the Sunshine Café in Margate, a newly restored Grade II* Listed building that forms part of the Dreamland regeneration project, until 18 October.
