Victoria Sin, If I Had the Words To Tell You We Wouldn’t Be Here Now, 2019

Somerset House Studios in London is a hotbed of creative talent, offering workspace to a wide range of artists, designers and musicians, and their upcoming winter season is no exception. It will see the launch of new series Grounding Practice, which explores the sustainability of artistic practices, questioning the art ecosystem that is tied to the rules of the competitive art market, while recognizing that artistic development is reflective and investigative. A particular highlight is Victoria Sin, who will be in conversation with curator Taylor Le Melle as part of the series, in which invited artists will discuss their inspiration and how they navigate, negotiate and contribute to the contemporary contexts in which they’re making work. Sin uses drag and speculative fiction to interrogate gender and cultural displacement, and often blurs the line  between the gallery and the nightclub.
