Available Works Art Book Fair Returns to Downtown Manhattan this Weekend

Art book fair, Available Works, returns to downtown Manhattan this weekend, following the popularity of its inaugural edition last September. Presented by Water Street Associates (WSA), Something Special Studios* (SSS*), and Wrong Answer, the two day event will take place within WSA’s imposing surrounds — the recently opened cultural hub unfolds over 31 floors of a towering 1980s built New York skyscraper.

The fair is a part of WSA’s rich programming initiatives, which span and blur the lines between fashion, art, food, culture, and technology. Open to the public from 9-11 February 2024, Available Works offers fair-goers access to a carefully curated assortment of rare art books, magazines, and print ephemera sourced by leading book and paper dealers worldwide.

Select offerings come courtesy of curators and sellers including André Uncut & Sola Olosunde, Library Fetish, Fournier Fine & Rare, Memorie Books, Wrong Answer, Weinberg Modern Books and more. Among the magazines and collectives represented during the upcoming event, expect to see the likes of Deem Journal, Luna Luna, Pomegranate Press, SSS*, Magazine for Young Girls, and MOLD Magazine, among other intriguing titles and publishers.

Alongside the printed works available for purchase, there will be site-specific art installations on view by Harry Chadha and Kambel Smith. An architectural designer, Chadha’s work traverses spatial design, furniture, fine art, product, and experience, while Smith, a self-taught artist with autism, creates impressive, large-scale sculptures of historical buildings out of reclaimed cardboard.

Sound-system designer and DJ, Mo Yasin will provide music, and an exciting line-up of films curated by Airtime will be screened throughout the weekend. An experimental streaming platform showcasing diverse visual projects, Airtime is a space for filmmakers of varying backgrounds and stages in their career to show work free from institutions — an open resource that champions accessibility in art.
